Exactly. I work with several Linux and UNIX (IRIX and Solaris) boxes, so I
stick with vi. I learned most of what I need (for vi) from a book titled
"UNIX in a Week". I've yet to read through the O'Reilly book.

But you can't go wrong learn at least a LITTLE about vi.  Any
unix/linux machine you're on it's the one editor you'll be sure
to find.  Learn your favorite, but learn as much vi as you can,
too, because you never know when you'll be in a situation where
it's all you have - unless all you have is ed (the editor, not
allen), in which case I'd be in trouble myself.
