Has anyone worked with LEAP and/or ESROS?

They are free software alternatives to WAP and WTP,
enabling robust data transmission over cellular/mobile
frameworks.

Curious to know if this technology works; lots of documentation
but I can't seem to find any solid examples yet.

Failing that, has anyone worked with WTP? Is it
a lot of work to build a client/server conversation
with WTP, or has it evolved enough that a developer
can quickly churn out a coupla executables which 
carry data from a handheld to a server?
