Thanks everyone. I had a feeling about the advantages of a switch, but 
needed to hear from people who knew. While salespeople may be 
knowledgeable, they're there to sell merchandise. And the switch does cost 
a few dollars more.

I guess I'll get the LinkSys equipment, having read something about 3Com in 
this group. Pity I can't get into town for the meetings - school and 
caregiving take all my time.
