Take a look at the latest issue of Linux Journal and you'll see how Linux is wending its way into the entertainment industry. For those of you who don't get that mag, the cover story profiles Dreamworks and how it used Linux for the majority (80%!) of its animation render farm for the movie 'Shrek'. It talks about the future plans for adding more dual GHz. It also goes into a lot of the applications that they use for the graphics workstations that run Linux as well. Two of the major 3D Modeling/Animation packages, Houdini and Maya, have been ported to Linux, so there is more incentive for Animation studios who use (or are considering using) those packages to save on OS Licensing Fees and move to Linux.
