Could it be a version problem?  That the package you're trying to compile is 
looking for an older version of the libraries?

Make sure you have the LSB package installed - this provides some linking and 
paths to help standardize the location of files.

Also, look for the packages you're trying to compile in SuSE compatible RPM 
format.  Check http://packman.links2linux.org and 
http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk.
