Would use a rt.kclug.org or a rt.kc.pm.org request tracker instance
to track requests and developments for your project, rather than
a mailing list, if it was made available?

For an example of an RT that handles tickets for multiple projects,
take a look at rt.cpan.org which provides a separate ticket queue for
each and every module on CPAN.
