Hmm...I've been looking at Open Office (1.0.1, as shipped with RH 8.0), 
but I was looking at the word processor, not the spreadsheet.

I hadn't thought about trying to import an XML tag as part of the mail 
merge, but that sounds like the most likely solution so-far (at least 
without resorting to a windows based solution).

I'll let everyone know if I figure out a way to (easily) do this on linux.
