From: drturne1@eos.ncsu.edu (Daniel R. Turner) Subject: 387 Math CoProcessor Trouble Date: Sun, 30 May 1993 16:22:33 GMT
I'm having difficulty getting Linux to work with my math
coprocessor. When I boot up Linux it seems to recognize that the
math coprocessor is there: 'Math coprocessor using irq13 error
reporting.' but when it gets down to 'May 30, 12:04:16 init[2]:
version 2.0 booting' my machine locks up totally. I can type
letters in, but nothing else seems to happen. Does the kernel
need to be recompiled in order to use the math coprocessor? Is my
math coprocessor not supported?
My configuration:
Generic 80386sx/33 with 8megs RAM
Linux v99p8 (SLS)
Wang Labs (IIT) 3C87SX-33 Math CoProcessor
100% ANSI/IEEE FPASS
80bit internal computational register
Powerdown sleep mode
100% compatibility with 386sx systems
Any ideas or suggestions that you might have, please mail them
to me even if you post. Thanks!
P.S. I have had NO problems running Linux WITHOUT the coprocessor
(ie. taken out), only when I put it in do I get this problem.
