This is the precise problem with Linux at the moment. Wouldn't it be nice
to have compatibility with Interactive 386? Something like this must be done
if Linux is going to go beyond the realm of the amateur hacker or UNIX
enthusiast. If only commercial software was available for Linux, I might
remove my DOS partition. However, Linux is under serious threat on my hard
drive from OS/2 (and dare I say it possibly Windows), because I am finding
it more difficult to justify having it eating half my hard disk, when the
only program I have found to be of any serious use towards my work is Idraw.

However don't get me wrong; Linux is in my estimation excellent, with a
great deal of potential. I'd hate to see it fail to get onto the machines
of normal users (non-hackers) because it can't run off the shelf commercial
software.
