I would be kind of nervous about using a TeX based wordprocessor for the
following reason:
TeX mf files are very difficult for a non TeXie to use. It is easy
to make mistakes and get screens and screens full of errors
and having used it for a month so far I have yet to get a
font besides the computer modern fonts to come up with the
correct spacing. Perhaps I'm missing something
Why not have a postscript based word processor? The renderer for Postscript
fonts is already built in to X386 and AFM files are easy enough to grab.
Postscript files also have the advantage of being able to be piped through
Ghostscript to print them. I think that a wordprocessor that uses PS fonts
and outputs PS files for printing would be more useful than one based on LaTeX,
unless someone can write a quick and easy guide to getting those damned mf
files to behave. I don't know what kind of file format could be used to save
though. Perhaps if there were a way to use PS fonts in TeX? That'd be the best
of both worlds!
Just my uneducated opinion,
