Yep - we liked it so much that we wrote our own database in c++
If you would like to beta test it, get it from pippin.cs.monash.edu.au
in pub/exports as diamond-0.1.2.tar.Z. Please let me know if you decide
to play with it.
Without wanting to sound defamatory - we had a lot of trouble with metalb**e
- and in the end, taking 40 minutes on a sun2 to insert a few thousand records
didn't impress us after we'd finished debugging the database. Our database
took around 35 secs by comparison, although it lacks a few features of
daimondbase (no curses browser) - it's written very cleanly in c++
however, so it should be easy to modify. There is a promised release of
metalb**e which fixes many things. I haven't seen it.
