I am going to purchase a system this week on which I plan to install Linux and
XFree86. I've determined through careful research what hardware is best
suited for the job, with one exception...
In the FAQ, it states that Linux will run on machines with ISA/EISA/Local bus.
But in the next sentence it states that "you still need an ISA-bus hard
disk controller, though". So basically EISA/VLB controller cards will not
work? The reason I am asking is because I think I have found *the* machine,
but it has a 32 Bit EISA SCSI Controller.
Since I'm buying everything brand-new, I want to make sure I buy the most
compatible equipment available. Please email all replies and if there is
sufficient interest I will post a summary. Thanks in advance!!!
