From: jac11@po.CWRU.Edu (James A. Clark) Subject: System halted error... Date: 8 May 1993 18:53:20 GMT
Me again.
I FTP'd to sunsite.unc.edu and grabbed the a, b, and c disks for
Linux. I even rawwrote disk a1 just like the readme told me too.
I tried to just boot off of the first disk to see what it looked
like but it gave me an error message.
After saying 'LILO' on my screen, pausing, and then writing 'loading
ramdisk...' it gave me the option of what video mode. I just hit space
to continue and this is where I get the error that says that it needs
2M of memory and then it freezes (sometimes with the drive light on and
spinning) saying that the system is halted. What does this mean and how
do I change this?
To refresh you: I have a 2M 386-16SX machine with 42M harddrive. Since
I *do* have the two megs I'm wondering why it gives me this message.
