Subject: Speed problem with X

I have been using X on linux for a few months now with almost no problems
until today. I have a IBM RS6000 on which I have Professional CADAM. The
moving of the mouse cursor is great until I bring CADAM up. From then on,
whenever the mouse cursor is in the CADAM window, it moves very slow, ex:
move the mouse, wait 2 to 3 seconds, cursor moves. I am also running
xsysinfo. When the cursor is in the CADAM window, CPU Idle goes to 0 and
CPU load gradually increases. The funny thing is that when I move the mouse
cursor out of the CADAM window, CPU idle increases imedetally, the CPU load
goes down, and the cursor moves like normal.

Now after reading the above, you would think it would be an IBM or CADAM
problem and not linux. Well I thought that, so I then brought up
DESQview/X (DOS X-window package) on the same PC. CADAM ran fine, no slow
down at all.

Anyone have any ideas? I think this is a very strange problem.
BTW, I am running in 1024x768 mode in linux and DV/X on a 386 25mhz with
8 megs RAM, 2.5MB swap space (still have room left according to xsysinfo).

One more thing, when the cursor is real slow in CADAM, there is no disk
activity at all.

Thanks for any help,
