Subject: Problems with SLS 1.02-Linux 0.99.p9
Date: 7 May 1993 06:49:51 GMT

After installing the new version of SLS 1.02 I have a few questions:

1. fixkbd does not work with kernel 0.99.p9, it only loads it into memory
and then goes back to the shell (I remember this was asked by someone
else in c.o.l. before -perhaps answer in c.o.l)

2. Some x applications do not work as they did before. xedit seems to be missing
(was observed before too by someone else, I remember); the interviews-doc starts and
one can type into it, but contrary to earlier versions there are only
two menues -file and edit (earlier for fonts etc.) xtetris tries to
open a window, but after pushing the mouse button it dies. I did install
   the zxfix-file on disk a9!

3. A more general question on Xconfig (one more). I have NEC 4FG and a new
paradise card (with WD chip) bought in april. I found suggestions
for the paradise clocks (which essentially agree with those found by
my xfree86 1.2) as well as for the NEC 4FG in c.o.l. before, but after
some trial I can get only 640x480 to work. 800x600 works, but every time
I move a window it gives some snow at the borders of
the window. The same for 1024 mode and in addition it flickers permanently.
Did anyone try this configurations (It's sold by VOBIS, a distributor
well known at least in germany, thus it might be of more general interest).

Thank you for any hints. Answers please to c.o.l. or my internet address
