With all these long discussions about devices, I have a question:

What is /dev/fd1H1720 (found in SLS 1.02?) I tried to access it,
but this caused an infinite number of kernel errors, forcing me
to reboot.

Speaking of errors, I've noticed that now when I accidently access
a drive with 0.99pl9 Linux will not abort at a maximum number of
errors. Is there any way to compile this back into the kernel? Most
things I do only result in a finite number of errors, so it is only
a pain. But, when I accidently access non-existent hardware (or
when my CMOS is messed up), this results in an infinite number of errors
forcing me to reboot.
