Subject: Help: X and ELSA Winner-1000 (S3-928) problems
Date: 7 May 1993 07:56:18 GMT

I've two problems running XS3-0.4.4 (Linux 0.99pl9) on a ELSA Winner-1000 (1MB):

1) Clocks
This card has a PLL clock generator (like Diamond Stealth, sigh)
How do I setup different pixel clocks? Normally I only get 25,28,35 MHz.
First booting DOS5.0 and running WIN3.1 only worked 2 of 10 times.
Of course I'd like a linux program to setup clocks but any reliable
boot-dos-first solution for would be fine for the near future (and for
debugging/tracing the BIOS).

2) 928 support?
XS3-0.4.4 doesn't recognize 928 (chip id 90), but starts up (640*480,
sometimes 1024*768) but screen is all white. XS3 seems to work ok
exept this, I can run xbench in background and get reasonable results.
Is there something special with 928 and RAMDAC or ELSA Winner and RAMDAC ?

Any help?

Thanks,
Harald
