From: joel@wam.umd.edu (Joel M. Hoffman) Subject: ``Unable to handle kernel paging request'' Date: Tue, 4 May 1993 23:37:01 GMT
Yesterday I posted that I got the error ``unable to handle kernel
paging request,'' but that I had lost the detailed information spewed
out. I got the problem again today, and here's what I saw:
Unable to handle kernel paging re
quest at address c0000fec
Oops: 0000
EIP: 0008:00035518
EFLAGS: 00010286
fs: 0017
base: 00000000, limit: C0000000
Pid: 99, process nr: 23
ff b1 ec 0f 00 00 ff b1 f8 0f 5
Both time news was processing a large-ish batch of incoming news
(200K) I suppose that's actually not very large. The source of the
problem may be ``top.'' That program died with a segmentation fault
(but no core) both times. The first time I was actually using top,
the second, it was running on a background VC.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
