It seems odd that 100,000 people got Linux via FTP and that most
people have been claiming that the numbers can't be above 300,000.
The readership of comp.os.linux was also sighted, but no one said
anything about linux-activists, which many people get since they don't
have usenet. Also, the numbers of readers do not include the folks
over on the fidos that are seeing comp.os.linux. And I just read in
COLA that most Linux users have access to linux only via the BBS
scene. Plus the number of down loads doesn't count people getting it
from mirrors, resellers of Linux, etc.

So no on really knows how many people are using linux. I wonder if
someone can make a good analysis of all the places you can Linux and
come up with some sane numbers.
