I am having the same problem with my system running SLS1.0. The only
text mode I can switch from X to a text window or quit X and still
have my text screen sync is 80x66? (the 0 selection upon boot) All
with the other text modes I end up with an out of sync screen when
I leave or switch from X.

I'm X at 1024x768i with a Orchid ProdesignerII on a no name
386 clone and a Qume QM835 monitor.
(Horizontal Autosync scan: 31.5/33.5 kHz
 Vertical Autosync scan: 50 - 90 Hz
Freq. Bandwidth: 45 MHz min. at 3 dB
Which is the most I can get from the manual that came with
 the monitor)

Also, I get the followin error when running openwindows:

System Warning: Object 0xc700, Operation not permitted, ioctl
TIOCCONS returned -1, attempt to make tty the console failed
(tty package)

Is this something that should be corrected?

Thanks for any comments or help,
