I was always kinda partial to SCO's tty[1-8][a-z|A-Z] setup.

How about something *really* complicated like:

tty000-tty999?

reserve tty000-009 for the console multiscreens and just go on up?

I never was real hip on /dev/con because it doesn't follow the
'standard' naming convention for a interactive line.

Maybe tty01-ttyXX for the multiscreens and ttyc01-ttycXX for other
serial ports.
