Subject: Problems with Adaptec1742

        I have problems with the folowing configuration:

        486-DX 50 EISA, 8 MB, ET4000, AT-Bus-Controller with
        Seagate3283A and Adaptec 1742 with Seagate3283N.
        The Adaptec 1742 works in "enhanced Mode".
        Imageversion is 0.99-p7

        When trying to make a filesystem with "mke2fs /dev/sda1"
        I get a "scsi 0 host timed out - abort command" and the
        system hangs. After a reset the Adaptec-Hostadapter comes
        up with an initialisation error and I have to turn power
        off.

        Does anybody know why this error occurs ?
