Hello. I have recently gotten my Trident TVGA 8900C to work
in interlaced mode at 1024x768. The problem is that it is DOG
SLOW in X windows. Can anyone give me a comparision of different
graphic adapters at this speed. In particular, given a limited
budget (I can't afford to buy an NI monitor right now), what type
of card should I get to improve my performance at this resolution?

And is the difference in speed worth the purchase of a new card?
(If the speed is still annoyingly slow at this mode, even with a
faster card, then I don't want to waste my money. :^) Student budgets
suck. :(

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who may have done
such an upgrade themselves. Thanks.

(I'm only interested in Linux/XFree86 or XS3 performance. And the
X11 server needs to be stable.)
