Subject: Re: Linux and UPS
I couldn't reach the person who originally asked the question about the
UPS, but I came across a package once that ran off the game port -
great solution since I need my serial ports. It actually worked whereas
a commercial one I bought for Unix at US$100.00 did the UPS management
precisely *backwards*! [I did try all setup options with it, but it
was always still backwards! And it took up a serial port].
I'll see what I can do about digging up references to the package.
(It came as a part of a more generalized "port reader/writer" for
Unix, e.g., it gave you a program called "in port#" and "out port#
value" - sorry, that was usage in the shell. Then I put a cron job
in that just ran a small shell script every couple minutes.
Maybe you can also forward this. Thanks.
