Subject: Boot problem, need help!

I can not boot from HD after I installed Linux yesterday. I partitioned
the 250MB HD something similar to following:

/dev/hda1 * 1 1 400 DOS
/dev/hda2 401 401 964 Linux 135135
/dev/hda3 964 964 1010 Linux swap

DOS fdisk recognizes this partition table and also Linux table fdisk
gives the same table ofcourse.

But when I try to boot the machine to get to dos, I can not do it
from HD. It says "Operating System Missing". I have to use floppy
to boot to get to DOS. Is there something I should/shouldn't be
doing?
Thanks for any help!
