Subject:  Are there drivers for soundcard  CD-Rom interfaces?

I know that if I use a supported SCSI controller I can use CD-Rom
drives, but are there any drivers for the SCSI controllers integrated
into the sound cards? I'd rather go IDE for the hard disks, but
I'm toying with the idea of getting a CD Rom drive at some point,
and would like to avoid having several HD Controllers all in the
same machine.
