Subject: [Q]: X on a DELL with paradise 1024K vga card

'lo all

I've been trying to get X-windows up and running on a DELL 486D/33 with a
built-in WD/Paradise svga card with 1024K memory. But to no avail. I've been
at it for a day or two, and the best I can manage is a rather flickery
800x600.

X can only find 8 clock speeds, the highest of which is 36.1 Mhz. This looks
just a little strange, to say the least - on my own machine (an ET4000
board), I can get clock speeds of up to 90 MHz. What gives?

Getting the machine into hi-res from DOS is no problem - 1024x768x256 mode
is crystal clear. So it _can_ be done.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do? A working Xconfig?
Suggestions?

Anything at all would be appreciated a lot. Replies via e-mail, please - if
there's something worth summarising, I'll summarise to the net.

Thanks in advance,
Nick
