BZZT! NOT!

"saying something doesn't work" is NOT enough! By simply saying, "Not a chance
in Hell. efs is not stable.", Charles has done nothing but complain, without
giving anyone a chance to even attempt to fix whatever problem may or may not
exist.

The fact is, a lot of people have gotten efs to work just fine, and Charles
is apparently an exception to the rule.

Where would we be now if everyone had given up on Linux because Linus didn't
get it perfect the first time and someone posted "it doesn't work" to the net?

Unless Charles can make it "worth his time" to try and help track down a
bug in efs, his comments are utterly worthless. The only thing we know is
that Charles doesn't think efs is stable. So what? That doesn't help!

I may have missed it, but I don't think Charles has even bothered to list
his hardware/software setup.

>What is NOT constructive is people on this group trying to bully
>others into keeping quiet about things which don't work. Oddly
>enough this was exactly what happened on the NeXT news groups -
>anyone who dared to suggest that there was anything wrong with
>NeXT or the hardware/software was shouted down. Look at NeXT now.

NO ONE is trying to bully anyone into keeping quiet about a bug! That is
ridiculous! We all want Linux to work and grow.

What we (ok, me anyway) would like is for people (eg. Charles) who think
there is something wrong with efs, to try and give the appropriate people a
lead so it can be fixed. I think Remy Card(sp?) sounded more than willing to
fix problems, if he only knew what the problem was.

There are a lot of things "wrong" with Linux, but there are lots of things
right about it as well.

I am not a kernel hacker, or a writer of new filesystems, or any kind of major
contributor to Linux, but I at least try to give back to the Linux community
by helping people out with problems that I know how to solve. Charles isn't
helping anything, just dishing out criticism.
