*You're* dreaming.. As great as I think Linux is, do you honestly
think it's going to take on the likes of Microsoft and Novell, starting from
a grass-roots hacker movement that wanted a good unix for a 386? Sure.
Let's compare this to Perot for president.. might have been a good
idea, but simply having a good product isn't going to cut it. Try
convincing all the people running DOS/Windows to switch to Linux just
because it's better. Maybe after you convince WordPerfect and all the other
app companies to port their products to Linux they'll do it.
And while we're at it, let's get Microsoft to port Word, Excel,
Access, and all their other nice programs. I'm sure they'll be happy to
write X versions!
Sarcasm off.. no offense, but Linux isn't going to get to the
status of the type that you're looking for. Linux is the best OS I've seen
for the 386, but add in all the BS that a company requires and you'll ruin
the product. I for one like LINUX just the way it is.
