Subject: inittab??? How to set up modem on com2
Date: 21 Mar 1993 20:05:54 GMT

I am getting really frustrated with this latest problem. I have
looked everywhere I can to figure out how to fix this, but can't seem to
find a solution. I want to allow logins over my 2400bps Hayes compatible
modem on COM2. The documentation I have found for inittab
(intro_sys_admin doc) seems to refer to a different version of inittab.
Anyway, does anyone know what the correct entry would be? I have the
March release of SLS, plus I have upgraded to patch level 7 of the kernel.

Also I have read that it is possible to set up TCPIP in loopback
mode. The documentation seems well done but does not refer to an SLS
distribution, which they mention is different (no intall.net script).
Does anyone know how to set this up correctly also. I want to be able to
use talk, finger, and all those on my own machine.

My next step is to set up a dumb vt100 terminal on another serial
line, that will be my next adventure.

If I wasn't such a newbie to UN*X in general, then I probably
wouldn't have these problems, but I am learning!

Thanks to anyone who can help out!
