Subject: Linux doesn't recognise my hard disk!!

Hi, everybody. I'm a new user to Linux and is currently having some problem
installing it to my IBM PS/ValuePoint machine. I desperately need help from
you experts.

After booting disks a1 and inserting a2, I typed FDISK at the prompt. I got
the following error:

# fdisk
Unable to read /dev/hda

I've already freed up a 60MB partition on my hard disk and removed that
partition
from DOS's fdisk. I've tried the same process on several other machines and
the installations are successful.

My config is:

IBM PS/ValuePoint (486SX/25)
165M IDE hard disk - Sides = 10
                     Tracks = 970
                     Sectors per track = 34

Does anybody have a clue on that? Returning by mail (edmund@gnct.com) is
preferable, or just post it here if you like.

Thanks in advance.

Edmund.
