It's the confusingly self-documented ;-) ./sys file.
You basically need two entries in it:
ME:grouplist
feed:grouplist:Lf:
(this is for leaf nodes). Where grouplist represents the list of
newsgroups you receive (in the ME line) rsp. send out (in the feed
line); for leaves these are either identical or the send list is
all/all (I assume there are no local newsgroups on a single-user
machine :-)
And <feed> ist your feed's UUCP name, of course.
The batchparms file needs only the /.../ entries at the beginning and
all at the end, but this should be easily understood. But your problem
relates to the sys file.
I (again) recommend the wonderful book by O'Reilly, it explains it
all... (Btw.: you should't run uucp and cnews setuid root as of SLS,
better change it according to O'Reilly. Some twiggling with the
crontab may also improve efficiency; the standard setup seems to be
suited for bigger sites - one sendbatches per hour and other wonderful
things...)
