Some versions of SLS come with a pre-installed /etc/lilo/install that doesn't
work with the new-style configuration method. QuickInst of LILO 0.9 should
have warned you about that.
The fix is easy: copy the file install from your LILO source directory to
/etc/lilo and run /etc/lilo/install
