Subject: [Problem] Lx0-99p7 trashes my FS (again) !
Date: 16 Mar 1993 21:29:38 GMT

I posted sth. similar some time ago, now once more again ... :

=============================
Conf.:

486/33 16MB
SCSI AHA1542B 240+520
WD16 / 8390 (@super.*)
(Linux-0.99p7 + 8390.6)
=============================

0-99p7 is totaly unusable for me -- 'efsck' reports *lots of* inconsistencies
immediately after a write access to my FS ...
  (like 'cp -rva /usr/bin /tmp')

I had this problem some time ago, but it disappeared when I was using Donald's
8390_WD_Driver (up to 99p6) ... But NOW it does *not* !!!

I read a similar posting in the NORMAL (?) channel, it seems to me as if
I'm not the only one with this kind of trouble (this time) ...
As I remember this guy had to replace his 486 motherboard with a 386 ...
I only can say that the /same/ kernel is running just fine on my 386/40 (IDE).

I don't know if this is related to the EtherDriver again (I didn't plug out my
EtherCard) ... I'll test it within the next few days :-(

But why 99p7 ? What for hell has changed ??? Linus ... ??? :-)
Any suggestions ?

  (I'm sure that there's not even a single problem concerning
     o IRQs
     o SharedMem, IO-Base, ...
  )

0-99p6 is runnnig fine ... (including TCP/IP)
I used the same setup for 99p7 as for 99p6 before !

Bye ...
