Subject: How to switch back to VGA-text from SVGA-text mode???
Date: Tue, 16 Mar 1993 12:27:49 GMT

Is there any program in the 0.99pl6 SLS that allowes me to switch back
from SVGA-Text mode to "Standard" VGA-Text Mode?

The problem occured after booting the freshly installed 0.99pl6 SLS.

The kernel, that gets written to the disk after the installation procedure
doesn't ask for the text mode (like the kernel from the a1 disk).
It was build to use SVGA_MODE=1 (if possible).
In my case, there is an ET4000-based SVGA-card, but just an old Monochrom-
Fixed Frequence Monitor (30MHz, 31.5kHz). :-), SVGA-text is not a good
idea for that Monitor.
Will I have to use the backdoor (via serial Terminal) to recompile the kernel
using SVGA_MODE=NORMAL_VGA? I think, this should be the kind of kernel
that should go on the boot disk after the installation (or ASK_VGA),
protecting users from having just a blind flight.

tnx fer infos and comments
