From: pizzi@nervous.com (Riccardo Pizzi) Subject: Segmentation fault when running an application (ipc in kernel) Date: Mon, 15 Mar 1993 21:05:10 GMT
Hi netlanders,
I am having strange SIGSEGV running an application that runs fine on my
ISC 2.2 SVR3 unix. This application uses lots of standard unix features,
and especially IPC (shmem, semaphores, message queues).
So, I relinked the kernel including the ipcbeta package; this is all from
the SLS distribution, and uname tells me it's 0.99.pl4-54.
Now, the questions: has somebody else on the net tried to use applications
with IPC calls? Beside that, the program dies before doing anything
that deals with IPC, so I believe IPC is not the culprit. I suspect some
bug in the patched kernel code, or more probably, in the libc.a allocation
functions. Is there any known bug in the libc.a (the static one) supplied
with SLS 0.99.4 regarding memory allocation?
Many thanks to whoever will take the time to reply... please, send mail
because my newsfeed is dead at the moment.
Ciao
Rick
