Subject: UK: Research Machines ethernet cards?
Date: 15 Mar 1993 12:55:10 GMT

Have any British readers got Linux to work with a Research Machines
ethernet card of any kind? It's not in the compatibility FAQ, but this
wouldn't be surprising as the card probably isn't sold outside the UK
(under the RM name at least).

The card doesn't have RM's name on it, or anyone else's. The biggest
chip is marked DP8390DN/NS32490DN. MS-DOS packet drivers etc. all say
"(C) Research Machines" so it may be a design unique to RM.

How difficult would it be to generate a device driver assuming I could
find out the hardware interface? (Bearing in mind that I don't want to
install Linux itself until I can get network connectivity...)

Please reply by e-mail and I will post if I have any luck. Thanks...
