At great risk to myself, my computer, and my hard drives :-) I got bold,
installed dosemu 0.48.1, loaded up BC++ 3.0 *under* dosemu, and ran DPMIRES.
"DPMI server initialization error->v86 task without vcpi"
DPMIINST was a bit more verbose about it:
"DPMIINST Version 1.0 Copyright (c) 1989, 1991 Borland International
This machine is running an expanded memory manager
that does not support the Virtual Control Program
Interface. The DPMI server cannot be run out of
extended memory while this driver is active. You
must remove the expanded memory manager from your
config.sys file and then reboot in order to use the
DPMI server."
(Don't bet on it, buster! :-)
I guess the next step is to teach dosemu how to support DPMI directly, or to
find a DPMI server that runs under dosemu. :-)
