Hello linuxers,
We have successfully installed SLS Linux 0.99pl6 on our AT&T 6386E/33 WGS.
For your Hardware Compatibility List here is our configuration:
- i386DX 33Mhz
- 12Mo RAM
- EISA bus (I suppose)
- 300Mb ESDI Hard Drive
- VGA Card (I've not looked precisely to the chipset. It should be the standard
card shipped by AT&T)
- 3"5 floppy disk
- 5"25 floppy disk
- Internal Streamer (This is not a SCSI one. I suppose 150Mb)
- PS/2 bus mouse
- Color 14" monitor
- French AZERTY keyboard
I've tested it with a serial terminal connected to COM1(ttyS0).
It was on old model from Zenith (h19). It worked quite well. Although, I noticed some problems :
- user cannot change passwd from terminal. The passwd command 'noecho' mode, does not run
properly.
- I suppose that the solution to this problem, will solve the following one:
If a user has a passwd, he cannot login properly. At the 'login:' prompt, he can enter his name,
but the 'passwd:' prompt does not appear.
- Working from a terminal, a user want to 'su root' (root with no passwd).
The command will complete successfully, but the '# ' prompt won't appear, the user have to send
an implicit 'intr signal' (CTRL-C) to get it.
My question is : Do I have an invalid termcap entry for my terminal (h19) ?
Is it a problem with the ttyS0 driver ?
Anyway, we would like to connect our Linux Machine to our network. We have an Ethernet Card
shipped with our computer. This is a NP600A Network Adapter (80186 (8Mhz) CPU, 82586 Lan
Coprocessor, 512Kb DRAM), configured IRQ 15, adr 0x300. It does not seem to be compatible
with the Linux drivers.I would like to know, if there exists some driver for this kind of adapter ?
We also have an IPC900 Multiport adapter, is there some driver for it ?
Thanks.
