I have compiled xtiff for linux. It was a beast to compile
taking the 10M of ram and another 10M of swap space I had
set up. I recommend that , unless you really want to compile
it from scratch, you grab the binaries I've done. It's not
the xtiff program that is the problem, but a library you have to
create to link into the program.
I just uploaded my binaries to sunsite in the Incoming directory.
