From: dsc3pzp@nmrdc1.nmrdc.nnmc.navy.mil (Philip Perucci) Subject: SLS/3c503 again? Date: 9 Mar 1993 19:27:04 GMT
Still trying to get 3c503 working with SLS...
SLS does recognize my 3c503, but ping, telnet, etc., don't work.
In "/etc/inet/rc.net" on the $CONFIG line, if I leave it "eth0" as
defaulted in SLS, I get:
eth_if: transmit timed out, TX status 0x0, ISR 0x0
eth_if: Possible network cable problem?
3c503: Resetting the board... done
3 times at bootup (system boot).
If I change the $CONFIG line to "eth_if" (valid?) or "eth_zif"
(garbage) I no longer get the error messages, but ping to another
host fails.
My 3c503 is fine under DOS (I am using it now), but it would be
really nice to use Linux instead of DOS... sigh
