In the source package that I have uploaded to both sunsite and tsx-11, are
A COMPLTETE SET OF EXAMPLE FILES: /etc/gettydefs, /etc/inittab, and
/etc/default/*, as well as step-by-step instructions on what to do with
them.
The files are in the etc/ subdirectory of the source tree.
So, either the SLS maintainer removed these files from the source
distribution, in which case I should flame him; or they are there and you
didn't look very hard, in which case I should flame you.
In the former case, get the sources from sunsite.
