   What if I were to distribute the kernel is source (the original),
a patch file to implement my changes, and a proprietary .o file?
Basically, since my patch is not covered by the GPL (it's only a
weird Text file after all), the person would still be free to
distribute the kernel as much as he wanted. But he could not
redistribute my .o file and patch file since they would not be part of
the OS.
