Subject: install on partition #3 possible???
Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1993 22:07:42 GMT

I just received a new computer and have a question about installing Linux
on one of its partitions. I have a Gateway 2000 486DX2/66 with a 405MB hard
disk. I've configured it into three partitions.

        1. (C:) 35MB raw MS-DOS 6.0 partition
        2. (D:) 250MB extended partition with SuperStor compression running
on it to give ~< 500MB storage capacity
        3. (E:) 120MB logical drive on the extended partition for Linux

I've read the various FAQs and the SLS installation notes. However, I
didn't see any discussion of splitting a hard disk this way (i.e., loading
on E: which is a logical drive on an extended partition as opposed to an
extended partition itself). If I'm just confused about this whole thing,
I'd like to be told that too :-)

Thanks for any advice you Linux'ers can give me. Looking forward to running
Linux and Xfree at home soon.
