Subject: Worst possible 386 setup
Date: Tue, 29 Jun 1993 22:36:33 GMT

I intend to put Linux on the next PC system that I
purchase. Funds are a bit low right now (just bought
a house) so I probably will start with a 386. I have
read the FAQ, but want more opinions. I wanna run
X11, and I will be modifying source.

What would be the worst possible setup that I could get
away with on a 386 system and still run Linux, with regards
to:

Also, what would you recommend?

What kind of things should I look out for? (incompatible
cards that are common, types of hardware that have no
drivers)

Would it be possible to set this machine up as an Internet
node? (I have a friend who is running his NeXT as one)

Please post answers.
