here are two things that i can help
TOSHIBA T4400SXC
1) i have a toshiba 4400sxc and i run some part of linux
( about 25 mb of disk) no x windows
works fine so far
it worked when all the power management
stuff that portables have was on, but i turned it off
2) timezone:
the command for this according to
to the book the unix sysadmin hanbook is
( for 4.3 bsd)
timezone <hours>
with hours west of GMT
it takes an optional 3rd and 4th arg
the 3rd is dst for daylight ...
and the 4th selects the algorithm
to calculate daylight time...
according to the book the 4rht arg should be 1
(or 0 no daylight saving time)
for more info look at the book
for timezone. for the toshiba
