Subject: ifconfig & net2 & 0.99.pl10 problem!

I've upgraded SLS 1.01 to 0.99.pl10 and net-2. I can't get
ifconfig to work. If I give the first ifconfig command of:
        /etc/ifconfig eth0 192.246.1.2
i get:
        SIOCSIFADDR: Invalid Argument
        SIOCGIFFLAGS: Invalid Argument
        SIOCGIFFLAGS: Invalid Argument

Also, shouldn't there be a /proc/net? If I try to run netstat
it says:
        /proc/net/tcp: No such file or directory

any ideas???
