Subject: modem setup problem
Date: Tue, 29 Jun 1993 03:20:34 GMT

I am having problems with setting up my modem for both dial in and dial out.
My system is a Gateway 2000 486 DX/33 (running DX2/66 overdirve). The
version of Linux is .99pl9 installed from SLS 1.02. The modem is installed
on COM3, which was also set during installation of Linux. However, neither
Kermit nor cu can dial dial out. The IRQ for the modem is IRQ5. The FAQ
shows that COM3 uses IRQ4 instead of IRQ5. How do I change the setting of
the IRQ in Linux so it will use IRQ5 for COM3? Or does Linux detect the IRQ
for COM3 by itself? If so, how can I get the modem to work?

Also, how do I set up the modem so that other users can log in through the
modem?

Thanks,

Tom
