Subject: dip can't set speed (Re: SLIP installation guide )
Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1993 09:33:25 GMT

Hi,

with dip I can't set the speed for the used port. If I try this:

port ttyS1
speed 19200

term

The only thing I see are some noise char's. And 'stty < /dev/ttyS1'
tells me that the speed of the port is 38400. A workaround (I won't
say this is a solution...) is to start kermit before using dip. Kermit
has no problem in setting the correct speed, why can't dip do that?

I have one more problem with SLIP. If I try to use it with 19200 bps it
hangs after a short while. I have 16450 UART's one both sides of the line,
and can't replace them with 16550, because the Linux-box is a Notebook with
on-board ports. Is it possible to get higher speeds than 9600 with this
UART's, or is there a PLIP implementation for SVR4 (the other side of the
line)?

Ciao,
        BB
