Subject: Trouble with Conner CP3200-F SCSI hard disk
Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1993 08:13:07 GMT

Hello,

I have recently bought a Conner CP3200-F SCSI hard disk, connected to
an Future Domain TMC-1680 host adapter. Upon loading Linux (99pl9) the
drive is sensed properly by the FD-driver, but further booting is not
done. This happens with the original SLS 1.02 bootdisk and the latest
FD-drivers (3.11) from Rik Faith.

I know about discussions on Conner drives in the past in this news
group, and if I recall correctly, the firmware on the drive is of
influence on the recognition of the drive. Currently, the revision of
the drive is 4041, according to the FD-driver.

Without the Conner, my system just boots fine, and I can even use the
CD-ROM player. Because I don't want to use the Conner drive for Linux,
I wander if it is possible to exclude a drive in the sense process?

My questions are:

 - Is there anybody with any experience with Conner drives, and are
   they working?

 - If I need to get a new firmware, does anybody know where to get this
   in Europe, preferably Holland?

To be complete, here is my total configuration:

  486DX-33, 8Mb ram
  Future Domain TMC-1680 SCSI
  1 Seagate ST-1096N 80Mb
  1 Quantum LPS-240S 234Mb
  1 Connor CP3200-F 203Mb
  1 Toshiba XM:3232 CD-ROM player

Thanks in advange for all help,

Kees.
